The Swansea Bay National Rally

Saltash driver Alan Cookson and London co-driver Julian Wilkinson are really looking forward to their next event, the Swansea Bay National Rally after being out of the car since the disapointment on the Manx National back in May.
The event will see the pair tackle some of the best stages in the country on Saturday  the 18th of July, contesting stages often used on World Rally GB every year.
Pre event press release will be posted in the week leading up to the event.

Alan Cookson (IT Director - Gilletts Callington Ltd) & Julian Wilkinson (Riverside Property Services) are contesting The Pirelli MSA National Gravel Championship for a third time in 2009 in the same ex works Subaru WRC.

The car has a very interesting history as it was the car Kenneth Ericcson campaigned on 5 WRC rounds in 1997/98 which included rally GB and was also the car that won the Swidish Rally WRC event in 1997.

The 2009 Pirelli MSA Gravel Rally Championship will be contested over 8 rounds and will include two English based rallies in the shape of Rallye Sunseeker in Bournemouth and a new rally to the series, The Woodpecker, based in Ludlow.

It will  also visit Scotland twice once for the Brick and Steel Border Counties Rally and for a second time a month later when the series links up with the British Rally Championship (BRC) on the Pirelli International event in Carlisle.

The series will also include the regular two sorties to Wales, with the Severn Valley Stages Rally in late May and the Swansea Bay National Rally in mid July. There will also be a return trip to yorkshire after a succesful first trip there in 2008 to contest the Trackrod rally where the series again meets up with the BRC in late September.

To complement these mainland events, there is also a trip across to the Isle of Man again, for the RBS International Manx Rally, where the crew will contest the only tarmac round of the championship, on the fast bumpy islandroads.
